Summer will be here before we know it. Stock up now on travel toys in tins. They’re so small and easy to carry. You can slip them in your purse or your child’s backpack. Many of my customers are grandmothers and have told me they keep a set or two in their purse to take out when the grandkids have to wait at a restaurant or other location. I have several of the Wee Mouse, Wee Bunny, and Fox in a Box sets completed and ready to ship. If you don’t see the exact color combination you want, just send me a convo and I can create a custom set just for you.
The Wee Kitty Cat Tin House is another design influenced greatly by Larissa Holland’s Wee Mouse Tin House design. Larissa has graciously granted permission to offer these sets. Right now I only have templates in the cream and black felt, but as you can see from my felt sample charts, a rainbow of options are available to us.
Some of my first needle felted sculptures were animals and it’s still a category that enthralls me. I lean away from exact realism into a more fantastic style. I try to keep these sculptures small, but the elephant became much larger in the creative process.
The fox in a box set is probably one of my favorite sets to sew up. I love these little guys! Like my other Wee Animal sets there is the main toy – a fox in this set – a tiny teddy bear, a pillow, a blanket, a mattress pad and the Altoids tin. They are fabulous purse toys. Just pop it in your bag and pull it out when your child needs a distraction.
One of my first spin-offs of the Wee Mouse Tin House by Larissa Holland was this Wee Bunny Tin House. I altered the pattern a bit more from the alterations I had already made on my version of the Wee Mouse. It still includes a tiny teddy bear and the bedding (pillow, blanket, mattress pad). They come a variety of bedding colors. The most commonly requested teddy colors are wheat and copper. The most commonly requested bunny colors are white and cream. Like the Wee Mouse Tin House, these are also made in 100% wool felt and stuffed with unspun wool.
For some time now I’ve been making my own version of Larissa Holland’s Wee Mouse Tin House. I love Larissa’s patterns, but since I prefer hand sewing and working in 100% wool felt it was necessary to alter her pattern just a smidge to fit my preferences. Here are some examples of my Wee Mice!
These gnome ornaments have been one of my most popular items for several years now. They come in a wide range of colors and I can even customize them. Some customers have requested hair colors and eye colors to match members of their families and others have had me add initials to the gnomes’ outfits to indicate which gnome represented which family member. I’ve done couples, individuals, and entire families!
I’ve added a new line of Christmas tree ornaments for 2014. The Woodland Animals Christmas Ornament Collection will continue to have new designs added annually, but this year’s ornaments include a hedgehog and a fox. These are both available in my etsy shop.
